Thinking about Quitting?

Why is it that when something gets hard, our first instinct is to quit? πŸ€”
New exercise routine gets hard, quit.
New diet gets hard, quit.
New project gets hard, quit.
Relationship gets hard, quit.
Job gets hard, quit.

However, we can look our kid in the eye, and tell him to keep going! That’s what practice is for! You only need to build up your endurance! You can do it!

I guess it’s time to start listening to our own words! Yes, I can do it…keep going!😍 I am determined to continue after my dreams!

Overthinking

Hang on. Let me overthink this…πŸ’

Why do we get caught in this trap of indecision?! We think about the possibilities, we think about the positives, then we think about the negatives. We dwell on each item like it’s a checklist in our mind. πŸ™„

What if we just stop and pray? Ask God to provide the answer we are seeking….and then make the decision! We must have faith that God is big enough to provide for the good decisions and a way out of the bad decisions. After all, He walks with us each step of the way! πŸ™

Most importantly, we must work on developing ourselves! Study the Bible and learn what God has to say. Read books to grow your capabilities! And then you can learn to lean on your intuition! ❀

Leaders are Readers

We’ve heard this phrase before. In fact, we’ve even told it to our kids in an effort to encourage them to read. πŸ“–

Not only must leaders read books in an effort to continue to grow, but they also must read others too. A leader must be able to read others and help them determine their potential or position in the team. πŸ‘€

Leaders must help read into the future. I’m not talking about necessarily being a prophet, lol, but being able to persue the goal and anticipate challenges along the way. πŸ‘

A leader must also be able to read themselves! They must be able to conduct an evaluation of their efforts and change accordingly. They must be able to continue to grow in order to help contribute to the team. πŸ˜‰

Remember to continue to invest in yourself. Grow daily in your leadership skills, it compounds!❀

Leadership

Leadership is like compound interest! Each day of development compounds on the day before as you learn and apply!

So, what did you do yesterday to strengthen your leadership ability? What are you doing today to continue to grow? πŸ€”

It’s time to invest in yourself, and then in return, invest in your team! Develop your own leadership style, and it will pay off in the future! ❀

Less Criticism

Rachel Hollis was on a roll the other day, and I’ve been thinking about this further! She didn’t care about what was said about her, but her point in talking about the criticism she received about a podcast was about why people criticize others at all. Someone stopped what they were doing yesterday just to write a bad review. How could time be better spent? How about being creative? πŸ—£

Oh the power of words! When we are critical of each other, what actually gets accomplished? Nothing much! πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ However, what happens when we use our creativity? Beautiful things can be made, moments are created, and the world is better! 😍

But let’s not forget about the critical things we say to ourselves! The phrases that are repeated inside our own heads daily. How can we change those thoughts? Yesterday, I talked about the tool of imagination that God gave each of us. What if we used that tool and became creative with the our daily thoughts? What if we visualized the positive changes that are coming? What if we changed? Oh what can we create? πŸŽ‰

Need help or ideas on where to begin? Try reading! A great list was started on my Facebook post yesterday! I know I’ve added to my own wish list.πŸ“– Growing mentally and spiritually is a great way start that creativity going! πŸ’ͺ

When Dreams become a Burden

We have a dream, we make a goal, we set about the activity to make it all come true, but somehow during the process we become overwhelmed. Let’s talk about when dreams become a burden.

Some can say that we are distracted. Some will say that you just have to push through. Some will say to avoid the drama or the person causing the drama. Some will say you can’t worry about it and to just focus.

However, what if it’s family? What if it’s not just drama, but real life issues interfering into your day? What if it’s your marriage you need to work on? What if it’s one of your kids? These are real life burdens!

How do you deal with all of this and still focus on your dreams? You still want to achieve your goal, but you must take care of life too. Your activity for your goals then becomes another burden that you must take of too.

I feel like when you are dealing with real life issues, you must consider adjusting your timeline. God gave you a dream and the desire to achieve that goal, but maybe it’s not supposed to happen in the next 6 months…maybe it will happen within the next year. You must evaluate the timeline of dealing with the life issues, and then re-evaluate your goal deadline. Can you still work a little towards your goal instead of full speed while dealing with the issue?

One thing I would advise against if allowing yourself to have a pity party; set a timer if needed. I know you feel like you’re giving something up, that you are giving up on your dreams, but you aren’t really… It’s just postponed a little. Keep that vision or goal in front of you at all times to remind yourself that your dream is still there no matter what you are facing. Let it help you to focus, deal with, and get past the issues in a timely or faster manner. After all, you have a dream and you were made for more!

And for my friend who is currently dealing with real life burdens, you know who you are. God has made you strong! He has made you strong for your family, your husband, your personal life, and your business goals! He will help you during this time of postponement. He will give you the desire and ability to get through this and to move on to bigger and better things! Just think how your experience will be able to help others, how your patience will be an inspiration to others, and how much joy you will find in the end! Postpone, but don’t wait forever. You were made for more!

Habits

As a follow up to watching Rachel Hollis’ Made for More Encore, I am covering one of the 5 steps to success each day. The last step addresses Habits!

Have you ever identified your regular habits? Rachel states that we need to identify all of the habits in our daily routine, and then identify if they are good or bad. What is the purpose in this, to get rid of the bad habits of course!

We want our good habits to be strong and second nature to us…like brushing our teeth. We would not go a day without brushing our teeth, and we want our other good habits to be just as strong. I want the habit of working out to be just as strong as my habit to brush my teeth.

Bad habits then need to go away! We know this, but yet, what do we actually do about it? I have a bad habit of getting on social media way too much. I want to be more intentional with my time, I have goals to achieve, and scrolling through Facebook isn’t intentional nor money making.

I will focus on my bad habits so that I can change my behavior. I need 30 days to begin a good habit. I need to focus on the intention of my time, the determination of achieving my goals, without losing track and being buried under a bad habit. My mind is right, now my body needs to follow!

Community

Following watching Rachel Hollis’ Made for More Encore last week, I am covering the 5 items to success that she covered in her training at the end.

What is your Community like? Who are the 5 people that you spend the most time with on a regular basis? Are you the smartest person in your group? Think sincerely on who you surround yourself with on a regular basis.

Are you surrounding yourself with positive, like-minded people? What does like-minded mean? For me, it means someone that applies Christian principles, someone who wants to work hard for their goals, someone who is kind and thoughtful of others, someone who continues to learn, and someone who doesn’t let other people’s opinions get in the way of going after their dreams.

Rachel says that Proximity is Power. If you are surrounding yourself with negative people, then you will be negative. If you are surrounding yourself with people that are lazy sloughs, then you will become lazy. If you surround yourself with positive, determined, hardworking people then you will run after your goals too!

Do you need to clean out the negative, lazy people from your life. Most likely the answer is yes! If they are family, that may not be so easy, but you can limit the amount of time they can influence over you. I’ve had to this myself, and quite frankly, I’m glad that I did! Through prayer and personal development, I’ve become more confident, more courageous, and more determined to grow spiritual and mentally. And the people that I surround myself with encourage me to go for it all! Find your tribe!!

Take Care of Yourself

As a follow up to watching Rachel Hollis’ Made for More Encore, I am covering one of the 5 steps to success each day. Today is simple, take care of yourself.

As a wife and mom, I had a tendency to put others first and neglect myself. Three years ago, I made a change since I knew something had to give in my life, and it needed to start with me.

Rachel states that if you don’t take care of yourself first, you cannot fully take care of others. She really addressed this in her Last 90 Days series.

  • Get plenty of rest each night. (She suggests at least 8 hours.)
  • Get up an hour early before the rest of the household to take care of yourself and your goals first.
  • Work out at least 30 minutes each day.
  • Drink half of your body weight in ounces of water each day.
  • Eat foods that bless your body.

Being healthy is not just being at a certain weight number for your height, it’s about how you feel. Do you have the energy and stamina to take care of yourself and the ones you love? Do you have mental fog that clouds your decisions? Does your gut tell you maybe you shouldn’t have eaten that piece of pizza?

Although my journey to being healthy is still going, I have come a long way. I feel good, even though my weight is not ideal. I will continue to go to the gym 5-6 times a week since I am DETERMINED to reach my goal weight. The rest, water, and getting up early are fairly easy for me to handle. Now to focus on my food…hmmm that might be another post for another day! At least I know my premium nutrition take each morning fits inside of this goal!

Your Surroundings

This past Thursday night, a friend and I went to see Rachel Hollis’ documentary, Made for More Encore at the movie theater. The documentary shows a touch of what she covers at her annual conferences. It was followed by 30 minutes of training. I took notes of the 5 things that she considers important to lead a successful life… (I’m sure I’ll get corrections on this, but I was writing too fast.) I’m going to take one of the items a day to address and apply.

Take care of your house – your surroundings

Ugh! You mean I have to clean?! You mean I need to de-clutter? You mean I need to make my bed every day. End of discussion…I’m not doing it!!

Not really! I am determined to do what I need to do to be successful. It is hard to to be stress free when you are surrounded by clutter! It is hard to focus on the details, when you are shuttering your eyes away from craziness that has become your home and work space.

So that means I need to come up with a plan of attack. I’ve already organized my office..although I still have a few things to complete and finish out my Christmas wrapping area. My office stores my inventory for one business, my wrapping paper and ribbon for every holiday, and my new cricut machine. It’s where I plan, organize, write, and work. My laptop is set up on the work table top too. I would like to finish getting items up on the walls.

My kitchen needs to attacked though!! I need to clean out the fridge and the freezer. I need to clean out and organize the pantry. I need to get rid of the paper off of the bar area. This really needs to get done within the next 2 days while I can still get my boys to help cart out the trash. It is crazy how we can work around and walk past the clutter daily, weekly and monthly without doing anything about it. My husband loves when I have a party planned, because it’s the one time he knows the kitchen will be spotless!! LOL

My bedroom doesn’t need to whole lot of work, but I do still have luggage sitting out from when we went to Cabo on our Lifestyle getaway…in October! We unpacked, just didn’t actually put the luggage away…who else is with me on this? I can’t be the only one! I don’t have stuff all over the floor or laundry piled everywhere…just stupid stuff that needs to be put away!

So I’m putting this all out there…so I can be held accountable for my surroundings. I want success, and with a little bit of work, I can completely focus on my goals, without having clutter hanging over my head like cloud!
